LITERARY LINKS:
Cornish Riviera Guides are proud to be the organisers of the literary walks provided during the annual Daphne du Maurier Festival of Arts & Literature held in Fowey but let us also show you the land that has provided inspiration for so many writers such as Winston Graham
(Poldark), Rosamund Pilcher (The Shell Seekers & Coming Home), A L Rowse
(A Cornish Childhood), Virginia Woolfe (To The Lighthouse), John Betjeman et al......

GARDENS OF EDEN:
The mild climate of Cornwall, warmed by the Gulf Stream, ensures a wealth of flora and fauna not often seen elsewhere in England. We have many glorious gardens to share with you: a good time to visit is in Spring (which comes early here) to see the fabulous display of camellias, magnolias, rhododendrons and azaleas.

And then, of course, there's the intriguing and spectacular Eden Project at Bodelva, near St Austell which opened fully to the public in Spring
2001. It has already won considerable critical acclaim .... and even
featured in a James Bond movie!
FILM LOCATIONS:
Dramatic seascapes, quaint villages, windswept moors dotted with granite cottages - all lit by a special clear light which attracted artists to Newlyn & St Ives, is now highly valued by photographers. No wonder that Cornwall has been chosen by so many film makers as the ideal location for films such as The Eagle has Landed, The Three Musketeers, Frenchman's Creek, Rebecca, Amy Foster to name but a few. Follow in the footsteps of famous actors and film stars and be transported into a world of fantasy where fact and fiction begin to merge.
CHURCH TRAILS:
The religious buildings of Cornwall provide a fascinating insight into the social history of the area, whilst the stories that surround the Celtic founding saints are enthralling. Churchyards are a never ending source of interesting tales and unusual relics. Oh yes, the architecture and the locations aren't bad either!!
HISTORICAL CORNWALL:
A dry term which hardly begins to describe the rich history of Cornwall. As well as fairytale castles and imposing mansions, our tours cover the now lost tin mining industry and the still
active china clay industry.

TOWN TRAILS & WALKING TOURS:
Every building, every street is rich in history or has a fascinating story to tell. A guided walk around town can bring this all to life. Our countryside walks, always at a leisurely pace, usually follow a theme such as literary connections, local history or natural history. Each
year there are regular town walks of Fowey throughout the Summer and we devise a varied programme of
themed walks for the Du Maurier Festival. At other times we can always tailor make a tour for your particular group.
MYTHS & LEGENDS:
Long known as a land of mystery, Cornwall offers the visitor many legends and stories upon which to
ponder ....

Roche Rock and ancient hermitage mentioned in the world famous legends of Tristan & Isolde
