The following buildings were originally thought
to have been designed by Silvanus Trevail and they have appeared in
various listings as such because the plans for them were documented
& filed with ST's work in the County Record Office. However,
detailed research by society member Hazel Harradence has revealed that they
were in fact by Alfred Cornelius, his assistant, who took over the practice
after Trevail died in late 1903.

* Date that planning permission was obtained
Alfred Cornelius designed other buildings in
Newquay, including what is now the Gluvain Park Hotel and the chapel at
Trencreek (bt 1906, demolished 1960's) as well as a variety of
buildings elsewhere in Cornwall.
A similar situation obtained in Truro where the
West End Stores (aka Charlie's Bar) has been attributed to Trevail for
a good many years but all surviving plans are the work of Cornelius in
1904/5 - a year or more after the death of ST.
If you have
photos of or any more information about any of the
above buildings, please do not hesitate to contact us ! Thanks
